Biography
Jenny Burton has had a long and varied career as a superb vocalist working successfully in Dance Music, R&B, Gospel and Inspirational Music.
Her latest release is The Best Of Jenny Burton, a tribute to a great career of recording and performance. Produced and primarily composed by Peter Link, The Best Of Jenny Burton is simply just that – the best of the recordings from 3 decades of music making. It represents the work of not only the radiant Jenny Burton, but also the inspired work of countless other musicians, engineers, arrangers and supporters.
Her Inspirational CD, I Think On These Things continues to be a best seller for her produced by Peter Link and with Inspirational record label, Watchfire Music.
Her CD, Released!, is a terrific compilation of some of her best work, previously unreleased, from the late 80s and early 90s. It is a retrospective of both her R&B styles and her Inspirational path.
In the Watchfire Music Listening Room concerts, at Shelter Studios and 583 Park in New York City, as well as now MONDO in Summit, NJ, Jenny performed to sold-out audiences night after night.
In the late 80s and early 90s Burton had four national number one R&B/Dance hits — “One More Shot”, rose to Billboard’s number five slot and led to Burton’s first major-label solo deal. Atlantic Records released her first LP, “In Black & White”, which included the hit single, “I Remember What You Like”. ‘Bad Habits”, off her second album was a #1 dance hit in America and rose to #12 on the R&B charts. She has to her credits as well two gold records from films — Harry Belafonte’s Beat Street and White Nights starring Gregory Hines and Mikhail Baryshnikov.
Moving more into an Inspirational direction, she created with producer/composer Peter Link, The Jenny Burton Experience, an award winning Inspirational group ran for seven years to sold out standing room only audiences at New York City’s “Don’t Tell Mama”. The Jenny Burton Experience also opened at Trump Marina for Al Green, performed with The Gap Band and Morris Day and The Times at The Indianapolis Black Expo for 80,000 people, opened for Stevie Wonder at Lincoln Center in NYC, and completed a one month run headlining at Resorts International in Atlantic City.
Along the way she sang at the Gospel Music Awards in Nashville and performed in the 2005 Movie Guide Awards in Hollywood, played a recurring role on ABC Television’s soap opera “All My Children” and has starred in numerous industrial shows for Fortune 500 companies all over the world. She also performed in a tribute to Harry Belafonte and Don King in New York City and as a featured performer in Black To Broadway at B.B. King’s world famous club. She also recently performed in Watchfire Music’s Joy Ride Concert in New York City.
